TIMERGARA, April 1: Civil servants on Saturday lauded a decision of the provincial government to provide additional financial assistance to the families of civil servants who expired during service.

While talking to Dawn in the district government’s secretariat, many civil servants expressed happiness at the move and said that the untimely death of a civil servant brought economic hardship to the bereaved family as there was no adequate provision of financial relief but now this “compassionate grant” would compensate the family.

According to these civil servants, financial assistance of Rs1 million would be granted to servants in BPS-20 and above, Rs0.8 million for BPS 18 and 19, Rs0.5 million for BPS 16 and 17, Rs0.4 million for BPS 11 to 15, Rs0.3 million for BPS 5 to 10 and Rs0.2 million for civil servant in BPS 1to 4 to civil servants who expired during service.

They said that this grant would be in addition to other benefits admissible to the family of deceased civil servants under any other rules.—Correspondent
