SUKKUR: The District Food Controller (DFC) of Ghotki was on Monday remanded in judicial custody for constantly avoiding to appear in the Accountability Court of Sukkur on the previous dates of hearing in a corruption reference against him.

DFC Rahul Kumar is facing a Rs30 million corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against him and several co-accused. When he did not appear in the previous hearings, the Accountability Court Judge, Syed Abdul Rasheed, had issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Monday, Rahul Kumar appeared in court along with his counsel, who filed a bail application. However, the judge rejected the application and remanded the DFC in judicial custody. He was arrested and escorted to jail by police.
