KARACHI, March 31: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Friday ordered the termination of service of some officials of revenue department and registration of cases against them by Anti-Corruption Department.

He issued the order in light of an inquiry conducted by the chief minister’s inspection team on his directive after he took notice of irregularities in the allotment of 3,221 acres land of forest department.

Accused Nisar Ahmed Ansari, Sikandar Ali Kalhoro, Raza Mohammed Bhutto, Nazar Mohammed Shahani and Nazir Ahmed Detho were terminated on charges of receiving instalments of illegally allotted lands, making wrongful entries in the record of rights and causing loss of millions of rupees to the government.

According to the inquiry committee report, 3,221 acres of forest land was allotted to various people under Land Grant Policy in district Dadu in 1992-93. The land was part of a forest and allotted in violation of the Forest Act 1927, while the revenue department was authorised to allot only its land.

Therefore, recommendation was made for cancellation of this allotment and in this regard a committee was formed by former commissioner Hyderabad, headed by the then Secretary S&GAD, Special Cell Board of Revenue, Sabhago Khan Jatoi.

The committee, in its report, stated that the allotted land belonged to forest department and, therefore called for its cancellation as recommended by the then deputy commissioner of Dadu.—APP
