KOHAT: Elders of Ara Khel area of Darra Adam Khel tehsil lashed out at the district administration during a khuli kutcheri for keeping them deprived of basic civic amenities for decades.

The khuli kutcheri was held in a local school by the deputy commissioner here the other day. Prominent elders including Malik Naib Afridi, Azeer Khan Afridi, Khan Ameer Afridi, Mir Ahmed Afridi, Malik Inayat and others pointed out public issues and various problems and said that the local population was only provided with the electricity for half an hour during the day time and an hour of power supply at night.

They said that the main source of earning for local people was coal mining and due to non-availability of electricity, they had to use power generators for drilling which resulted in cost escalation.

They said that they faced acute shortage of water, mainly due to non-provision of electricity to the area for sufficient hours. They demanded the solarisation of tube wells to ensure the availability of water to local people.

Malik Inayat pointed out that 300 students of a local school were huddled together to take classes in the house of the medical officer of Basic Health Centre due to poor condition of school building.
