Nazim’s ‘patch-up’ with CM

Published March 31, 2006

SAHIWAL, March 30: In the wake of setting up a committee by the chief minister to run the district’s affairs, a toned down Rai Hassan Nawaz said on Thursday he had reached a ‘patch-up’ with Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

Hasan Nawaz, who had defeated a ruling party candidate to get elected to the top office in the district, told journalists that according to the new ‘arrangement’, some amendments would be introduced to the district’s budget with the consent of provincial minister Arshad Lodhi.

However, Rai said no funds would be given to ruling party MPAs from the district head.

All decisions at the district level would be taken with consensus, he added.

Meanwhile, on the recommendation of the committee constituted by the CM, the Punjab government has provisionally allowed the payment of salaries of the employees and the utility bills from the suspended district council budget.
