KARACHI: The city administration late on Thursday night announced schools holiday for Friday following an advisory of the Met office.

A handout issued by the Karachi commissioner’s office said that all government and private schools would remain closed on Friday as a precautionary measure in line with a Met office advisory.

The Met office has predicted heavy rains coupled with thunderstorm and also warned of a cyclone that’s expected to be formed over the northeast Arabian Sea along the Sindh coast early on Friday morning, causing widespread torrential rains across the province till Aug 31.

Earlier on Thursday, despite predictions from the Met office, the education department remained unmoved by the warnings and decided to keep schools open.
