KARACHI, March 30: Five ships carrying containers and raw sugar are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was fairly brisk where eight ships were berthed. They are: Hyundai Future, Kota Wangsa, Y.M. Star, Kuo Hung and Orient Indepdence, to unload and load containers, Markos-1 to unload oil, Iran Shahryar, to offload fertilizer and Dagat Blue to unload and load general cargo.

Four ships, MOL Accord, APL Busan, Thore Mercury and Sunniva departed on Thursday, while Kota Wangsa, Festa, Y.M. Star, Kuo Hung and An Yue Jiang are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves rose to 0.108m tons comprising 25,215 tons of export tonnage including 8,890 tons of rice and 82,377 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Friday: Hyun Kwang, with 20,000 tons of raw sugar, Shalamar, with crude oil, Cal Vin Titus and Maersk Alabama, with containers.
