GUJRANWALA, March 29: A union council of Ghakkhar Town through a resolution on Wednesday urged the National Highway Authority to avoid installation of kiosks at bus bays on GT Road.
The resolution also demanded that wagons plying on local routes should be exempted from toll.
The UC meeting was presided over by its Nazim Rana Sajjad Haider. The resolution was tabled by Naib Nazim Dr Sher Ali Ansari and members of treasury and opposition supported it.
The meeting was told that a road along the drain at Nat Kalan Road would be constructed at a cost of Rs3.5 million by the city district government.
DEATH AWARDED: Wazirabad Additional District and Sessions Judge Sardar Tahir Sabir on Wednesday awarded death sentence along with a fine of Rs100,000 to one Shabbir Ahmad on charges of killing his wife.
The judge acquitted his father Hadayatullah and his mother Maqsooda Bibi by giving them the benefit of the doubt.
According to the prosecution, Shabbir had killed his wife Bushra on Nov 12, 2004 in Kot Inayat Khan (Wazirabad) over a family issue.
