PESHAWAR, Feb 4: A local court on Monday sentenced a drug pusher to rigorous imprisonment of seven years and fined him Rs70,000.
The district and sessions judge, Ziauddin Khattak, said in his ruling that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused.
The city police arrested Sher Muhammad, resident of Gilgit, on Sep 8, 1999, and seized four kilogrammes opium and charas from his possession.
He was charged with drug smuggling under section 9 of the Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997.
Public prosecutor Asmat Essa argued that the evidence of prosecution witnesses had proved that Sher Mohammad had been in possession of the drugs when the police had arrested him.
