Oram, Papps picked for SA tour

WELLINGTON, March 28: All-rounder Jacob Oram and opening batsman Michael Papps have been added to the New Zealand squad to tour South Africa next month. The selectors retained the same 13 chosen for the home series against the West Indies but included Oram and Papps in anticipation of a tough series.

Oram’s career has been plagued with injuries in the last couple of years, including a bruised heel which has kept him sidelined so far this year.

Lou Vincent and Mathew Sinclair were not considered for selection as Vincent’s wife is expecting their first child and Sinclair is getting married.

Squad:

Stephen Fleming (captain), Daniel Vettori (vice-captain), Nathan Astle, Shane Bond, Peter Fulton, James Franklin, Jamie How, Brendon McCullum, Hamish Marshall, Chris Martin, Kyle Mills, Jacob Oram, Michael Papps, Jeetan Patel, Scott Styris.—Agencies
