TOBA TEK SINGH: Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) MNA Changez Khan Kakar and his six lawyer companions were booked on Sunday by the Women Police Station Faisalabad on charge of an attack on a woman additional district public prosecutor (ADPP) and her father in her office at the District Courts Complex on Saturday.

ADPP Sehrish Arif alleged in the FIR that she was doing office work when Kakar, who is also a lawyer, came in along with six other lawyers and objected to what she had written on a court file regarding remand of an accused in a case. When she replied that it was a court matter and if he had any reservations he should contact the trial judge, Kakar and his accomplices attempted to attack her.

Ms Arif called her father, Muhammad Arif advocate, with whom the suspects exchanged harsh words, hit him with a steel rod and injured him. Kakar and his accomplices pulled at the woman prosecutor’s scarf and scuffled with her.

KILLED: A woman was murdered by her ex-husband and step-uncle for contracting a marriage at Chak 451-GB of Tandlianwala.

Amna Bibi had contracted a second marriage with one Shahid after getting divorce from Danish Ali. Danish had kept a grudge against her. On the day of the incident, her ex-husband and step-uncle, identified as Akram, shot her dead.

In another incident in Toba, a young woman died and her two relatives were injured critically after their opponents opened fire on their house at Subhan Garden on the Rajana Road.

City police said two motorcyclists attacked Atiya Afzal’s house. As a result, Atiya, Muhammad Haseeb and Waqas Ahmad were wounded. They were shifted to the district headquarters hospital where Atiya succumbed to her injuries.
