KOHAT, March 28: Regular classes of MBBS and Bachelor of Eastern Medical Sciences (BEMS) will start from April 4 in the KUST Institute of Medical Sciences established in the Nursing School of the KDA Medical Complex. NWFP Governor Commander Khalilur Rehman will formally inaugurate the institute on April 6, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.

The coordinator of the project, Masud Shah, told Dawn that admissions in the MBBS and BEMS classes had been completed.

He said that the faculty was being hired and most of the necessary staff would be inducted by March 30.

The government had allotted 50 kanal of land for the construction of a 500-bed teaching hospital whereas 1000 kanal of additional land had already been acquired for the administration block and hostel.

He said that construction work on the buildings was yet to start.

Degree classes of Eastern Medical Sciences were being started with the collaboration of Qarshi International, which would also provide modern laboratories for research and pharmaceutical purposes.
