SWABI: Public transporters have demanded here on Sunday that incomplete bridge on Swabi-Jehangira Road should be completed without further delay to get rid of frequent traffic jams and make people’s travelling easier.

According to details, the government had decided to construct a new bridge alongside the old one while widening the Swabi-Jehangira Road to facilitate the increasing traffic.

The construction of two main bridges near Kala village and the other one near Punjpir village were started three years ago and their completion was still in the middle of nowhere.

The officials in Communication and Works (C&W) Department said thatthe process of releasing fund to contractors was very slow due to the lack of financial resources. They said that construction of bridge near Kala village would be completed soon.

POWER OUTAGE: Electricity supply to most of Swabi city and surrounding areas remained suspended for over 10 hours which badly affected the consumers.

The power supply was stopped soon after rain, accompanied by strong wind, had lashed the district at midnight. The consumers said that they had repeatedly tried to contact the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) helpline, but there calls were not attended by the staff.

When contacted, a Pesco official told Dawn that the power supply was stopped due to a major fault in the transmission line.
