PESHAWAR, March 27: Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Qari Mahmood has said the government has taken all necessary steps to prevent bird flu in the NWFP.

He was talking to delegations and representatives of poultry farms at his office on Monday.

Qari Mahmood said people should not be worried about bird flu. After taking precautionary measures, they could eat the meat of birds and eggs.

He said Islam had laid down golden principles and if these were followed in true letter and spirit, they would save us from all such diseases.

He said bird flu could also be termed a conspiracy against our economy in general and the poor in particular.—APP
