BADIN, Oct 16: The Coastal Abadgars Association (CAA), Badin, has accused the irrigation officials of the Mirwah sub-division and Fuleli canals division of selling water and deliberately creating a shortage of water to justify the claim of the Fuleli executive engineer that the water shortage would continue to remain in these canals due to gauges of 11 feet in the head regular of the canal.

Speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday, CAA representatives Ali Ahmed Mandhro, Haji Abdul Rehman Mandhro, Abdul Sattar Warer, Muhammad Qasim Memon, Mir Muhammad Malwani, Muhammad Sadiq and Arbab Ali Akbar Mandhro said that following the acute shortage of water from RD-183 to 225, the crops of tomatoes, paddy and other costly cultivation over 15,000 acres of lands were being destroyed.

They feared that the water shortage would damage the Rabi crops badly if the water crisis were not resolved immediately.

They said their lands were located near to the coastal belt, which had been hit during the Cyclone-2A, and added that they had developed their lands with much difficulty.

They said all their efforts would go down the drain if the attitude of the SDO and the executive engineer of Fuleli did not change.
