LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), March 25: Situation in Bara is tense as another house was torched by the supporters of Mufti Munir Shakir in Sipah locality on Saturday.

So far half a dozen houses of Pir Saifur Rehman’s supporters were either demolished or put on fire by the self-proclaimed Lashkar-i-Islam, mostly comprising Mufti Munir Shakir’s supporters.

The house of Younas Khan was burnt in Yousuf Talab area of Sipah for firing at Lashkar-i-Islam a few days ago. Haider Khan, a supporter of Mufti Munir, was killed in the firing.

A jirga comprising elders of seven tribal agencies continued its negotiations with activists of the Lashkar-i-Islam on Saturday.

The sources said that Mufti’s supporters refused to close the FM radio station on the pretext that its broadcasts are being used for Quranic teachings.—Correspondent
