PARIS: Pakistan’s qu­est for an Olympic medal remained elusive as swimmers Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi failed to qualify for the next round in their respective categories at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Ahmed, an 18-year-old with 20 national records, finished last in his heat in the men’s 200-meter freestyle, clocking one minute and 58.67 seconds — three seconds off his personal best.

He finished 25th out of 25 swimmers, 11 seconds behind the last qualifier for the semi-finals.

Jehanara’s journey also ended in the women’s 200-meter freestyle, finishing 26th out of 30 swimmers. Despite finishing third in her heat, she failed to bre­ak into the top 16.
