RAWALPINDI, March 25: Vice-president of the ruling Muslim League (PML) Syed Kabir Ali Wasti on Saturday said that participation of President Gen Pervez Musharraf in the PML’s Lahore convention was ill-advised.

In a statement he, however, congratulated Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for holding, what he termed, the successful convention.

“All supporters of the President Musharraf should make him undisputed candidate for election as civilian president acceptable to all political parties for next term”, Mr Wasti said.

He appealed to President Musharraf not to accept advises like his re-election as president in uniform beyond 2007 or his election as president of the PML.

In his capacity as head of the state and Chief of the Army Staff, President Musharraf should not show his tilt towards any particular political party, the PML leader said. He appealed to the president to avoid adverse remarks against any political leader or the party.
