ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a meeting of the National Education Emergency Task Force on Monday to address the critical challenges faced by the education sector.

The meeting will bring together key stakeholders, including provincial education ministers, secretaries of education departments, representatives of multilateral and bilateral partner agencies and other relevant entities. The National Education Emergency Task Force was established to tackle pressing issues in the education sector, especially reducing the number of out-of-school children by improving access, quality and equity in the education sector.

During the meeting, participants will discuss strategies to accelerate progress towards achieving the 2030 United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to education, particularly SDG-4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

Meanwhile, the induction training for newly-recruited Elementary School Teachers (ESTs) in Islamabad will continue on Sunday (today) as well. “Purpose of induction training is to support new teachers and equip them with the necessary 21st century skills and knowledge to maintain discipline and effectively teach their students,” a statement issued by the education ministry stated.
