SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A policeman, Bakhtullah Wazir, who had embraced martyrdom in a firing incident, was laid to rest with official honours after his funeral prayers were offered at the Wana Police Lines here on Friday.

District police officer Farmanullah said that the police constable was on way home from duty in Nargasai area of Birmal tehsil of Lower South Waziristan on Thursday when militants opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

South Waziristan Scouts Commandant Saqib, DPO Farmanullah Khan, the Counter-Terrorism Department SP, civil, military officials, tribal elders and relatives of the cop participated in the funeral prayers.
