ISLAMABAD: The PTI shifted its activist Sanam Javed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House along with her family members to avoid what it said her ‘disappearance’.

Sanam Javed was released by court on Sunday but then she was again arrested by the Islamabad police.

“The police handed over the party activist to Balochistan police but our lawyer made footage of the arrest and showed it in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) claiming that none of those who wanted to get her custody was from Balochistan police,” PTI Information Secretary Rauf Hasan told Dawn.

“The IHC gave a direction that Sanam Javed should not be taken out of the capital city.”

“So the party decided to shift her to KP House which will eliminate the chances of her disappearance,” he said.

Mr Hasan said the PTI cared about its workers and will stand by them through every thick and thin.

It may be noted that Ms Javed was shifted to the KP House on the direction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

On Monday, the IHC ordered to release her with a direction to the police and other law enforcement agencies to refrain from arresting her again.

The PTI activist has spent around 14 months in jail.

In a judgement, IHC judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb also barred her from leaving Islamabad.

The FIA cyber crime cell had accused her of posting provocative comments on May 9, 2023, urging people to “attack” Jinnah House in Lahore.

On July 11, the Lahore High Court had discharged her from a case related to the May 9 riots registered against her in Gujranwala.

Ms Javed challenged her physical remand in a new case from Gujranwala after bail was granted to her in all cases registered against her in Lahore.

However, she was rearrested by Islamabad police as soon as she stepped out of the central jail Gujranwala on Saturday and shifted to Islamabad.
