Weightlifters congratulated

GUJRANWALA, March 23: The nation showers accolades on two weightlifters for winning gold and silver medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games being held in Melbourne, Australia. Shujauddin Malik won a gold medal in the 85 kilograms category and Irfan Islam a silver. Both the weightlifters are employees of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco).

Gepco chief executive Brig Saifullah Khalid phoned them on Thursday and congratulated them on their brilliant success.

He expressed the hope that they would repeat their performance in Olympics scheduled to be held in Beijing, China.
