UNSTABLE INTERNET: I used to subscribe 100 gigabytes (GBs) for my monthly data usage, but was unable to utilise even half of it due to poor and unstable internet connection in the area. Unfortunately, none of the telecom operators provides secure and stable internet connection in Pakistan. This not only disrupts communication, but also adds to the country’s economic woes. Pakistan’s economy is reasonably dependent on freelancing, and it is considered the second biggest contributor to the national gross domestic product (GDP) after remittances. The government should increase investment in the telecom sector to ensure secure and stable network connection in the cities and far-flung areas of the country.

COME RELIEF NEEDED: The recent electricity unit price hike is a severe blow to the consumers most of whom are already grappling with severe economic hardship. The increase has resulted in a significant surge in monthly expenses, forcing many families to make difficult choices between paying their electricity bills and meeting other essential expenditure. The impact is particularly devastating for low- and middle-income families. Considering the immense burden on these consumers, the federal government should step forward and provide some relief.

LOW PENSION: The recent federal budget has stipulated a 15 per cent increase in the pension of all retired government employees. However, the government has ignored the pensioners registered with the Employees’ Old-Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) . Are they not Pakistani citizens? Are they not facing the impact of horrible inflation in the country? At present, EOBI pensioners receive Rs10,000 per month, which is simply not enough. A family cannot be supported with this amount. The relevant offices in Islamabad should take notice of the issue and announce a decent increase for all EOBI pensioners.
