KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed while his alleged accomplice arrested with bullet wounds in the Teen Hatti area on Thursday, police said.

East-SSP Dr Farrukh Raza said two armed men tried to loot people at Teen Hatti. However, citizens put up resistance meanwhile a police party also arrived at the spot.

The alleged muggers opened fire on the people and police upon which the police returned fire, added the SSP.

The citizens who had weapons also retaliated resulting in injuries to the alleged robbers, the officials added.

Both the suspects were arrested with bullet wounds and taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where one of them was declared dead on arrival while the other suspect admitted for treatment.

The police claimed to have recovered two 9mm pistols and one motorcycle from their possession.

It transpired that the seized bike was also snatched in Liaquatabad recently.

Decapitated body found

A decapitated body was found from a garbage dump in the old city area on Thursday.

Risala police said that the body of an unidentified man in his early 40s was recovered from a garbage dump near a church on Nishtar Road.

The man appeared to have died around three to four days ago, the police said.

The remains were taken to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
