LAHORE: The Punjab government has changed rules for the packaging of flour sold across the province.

The food department has issued a notification regarding new colours, weight and labeling of flour packaging.

It says plain flour, fortified flour, fine and sooji will be packed in bags of different colours. Plain flour will be sold in white bags of 10 and 20kg; and fortified flour will be sold in unique orange coloured 10 and 20kg bags. The special super flour will be sold in silver or gray bags of 15kg. Maida/fine flour will be marketed in white bags of 50 and 80kg.

The bags should bear the product name, ingredients, trademark, manufacturer’s name and address, says a press release. Bag weight, logo, code number, expiry date and license number must be mentioned.
