TAXILA: Hassanabdal police arrested a man for trashing his wife and later injuring her with an axe over cleaning the house front in the street in the Kot Sundkai area in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Wednesday.

The victim reported to police that she was cleaning the front of her house in the street when her husband came and brought her inside the house while beating and thrashing her.

Later, he attacked her with an axe, injuring her critically. Police arrested the nominated accused after a medical examination of the victim which confirmed torture and injury.

Meanwhile, a man was shot and injured for resisting a robbery in the Karamwal area in the limits of Taxila police station on Wednesday.

Mohammad Arsalan reported to police that he was going to his house after drawing cash from a local bank located on Museum Road.

He said that as he reached Karamwal, a robber hit him with his bike as a result he fell on the road.

Later the robber snatched cash from him at gunpoint. When he resisted, he shot him and fled with looted items.

He was taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Separately Sajjad’s car was lifted while Inam’s car rickshaw was stolen by unknown thieves in the limits of the same police station.

Meanwhile, a Control of Narcotics Substance Court (CNS) in Hassanabdal on Wednesday convicted a man in a drug peddling case and sentenced him to nine years imprisonment and also imposed a fine on him.
