DISBURSEMENT FLAWS: Millions of non-deserving individuals in Sindh receive funds from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), while those eligible face significant challenges and humiliation. Agents often deduct a portion of the money before handing it to the beneficiaries. People gather in hordes to receive money, leading to unnecessary chaos. An independent institution should audit BISP disbursements to ensure transparency and accountability. Funds should be transferred directly into the recipient’s accounts. A more organised distribution system should be implemented so that the people may receive money in a dignified manner. These changes will help restore the integrity of the BISP and ensure that aid does reach those who genuinely need it.

BLOOD-SOAKED HIGHWAY: The N-25 highway has become a death trap, with many accidents occurring daily, and leaving countless families devastated. Two days before Eidul Azha and on the first day of Eid, we lost four of our beloved ones in two different road accidents. Three of them happened to be police officials who died while being on duty. The nation cannot afford to lose more precious lives on this blood-soaked highway. The authorities should take swift action to prevent further tragedies on this deadly road.

WHEAT CRISIS: The wheat scandal seems to have been swept under the rug. Had such a large-scale disaster occurred in any other country, heads would have rolled. In Pakistan, however, the government merely set up a nondescript inquiry commission. A few unimportant officials were suspended temporarily, and that was the extent of the action taken. Despite the fact that the findings have yet to be announced, everybody has already been given a clean chit. How is that possible? Will we ever see the real perpetrators brought to justice?
