TAXILA: The Task Force of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday sealed 27 illegal commercial buildings in Fatehjang while offices of four illegal housing societies were sealed and structures were demolished in Taxila during two separate operations.

In Fatehjang, the RDA enforcement squad sealed seven shops, six markets, two service stations, three plazas, one pipe and block factory, poultry farms and workshops were sealed as they were constructed without the approval of building control authorities.

According to an RDA spokesman, the civic authority on the directives of the Divisional Intelligence Committee launched an operation against illegal housing schemes in Taxila.

The Task Force had accelerated its ongoing operation against illegal housing schemes. The spokesman added that the RDA enforcement squad, while conducting the operation, took action against eight illegal housing schemes in Mouzas Lab Thatho, Niko, Bhoti Pind, Buddu, Gari Afghana and Bajar in Taxila tehsil.

The spokesman said that the enforcement squad sealed and demolished the site offices and land subdivisions of the illegal housing schemes.

He said that despite warnings, the owners of the housing schemes continuedillegal advertisements, booking of plots, development work in violation of rules.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza said that under the commissioner’s guidance, the crackdown on illegal housing societies would continue to prevent fraud and protect the citizens from exploitation.

She said the RDA had advised the citizens not to invest in illegal housing schemes and visited the RDA websitewww.rda.gop.pkto check the status of all legal and illegal housing societies.
