BADIN, March 21: Residents of Ahmed Rajo Circle, Shaheed Fazil Rahu taluka, staged a sit-in on Ahmed Rajo Road outside the Ghunghro oilfield on Tuesday bringing the traffic to a halt for four hours to put pressure on the company to carry out community welfare work in the district.

The sit-in was organised by Badin Rural Development Society (BRDS). Led by Dr Akash Ansari, Saboo Shah, Luqman Dandhal, Abdul Ghafoor Rajoo and others, the protesters raised slogans against the administration of British Petroleum, which operates the Ghunghro oilfield.

They demanded the government recover Rs37 billion from the company and deposit it with district government for carrying out community welfare works in the city.
