PESHAWAR, March 21: NWFP Accountant-General Ahmad Rasool Bangash has said that district budgets and accounts have been computerised in the 24 districts of the province and the seven agencies in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas by implementing the Pifra programme of financial reporting and auditing.

Speaking here on Tuesday at a workshop held for district executive officers, finance, Mr Bangash said the World Bank had provided a loan of Rs85 million for the programme.

He said accounts and other information of the districts and tribal agencies would be linked with the Pifra directorate by September.

He said past record was also being computerised.

He said the programme had introduced good governance, management and a system of checks and balances.

He said record of service, GP fund, salaries, service books and pension cases of officers would also be included in the programme.

He said a delegation of the World Bank during its current visit to the country had declared Peshawar a pilot city for the project.—APP
