Meeting put off

UNITED NATIONS, March 21: The UN Security Council on Tuesday put off a scheduled meeting on the Iranian nuclear crisis to a later date to allow more work on a Franco-British statement to take into account Russian objections, a Western diplomat said. The diplomat said no new date had yet been set for the formal meeting.

“The Russians want a more general text, and no reference to the Iranian program being a threat to international peace and security, which could imply that the Council might have to resort to sanctions,” he added. —AFP
