TOBA TEK SINGH: The last two survivors, out of nine members of a family who were burnt in a house fire that erupted after a reported laptop battery explosion in the Sharifpura locality of Faisalabad, succumbed to their wounds in the burn unit of Allied Hospital on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as 5-year-old Emaan Fatima and 45-year-old Rahat Bibi.

On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, all nine members of the family were burnt when a fire erupted in an air-conditioned room of their house.

Initially, it was suggested that the fire was caused by a laptop battery explosion, but a later inquiry committee determined that it was due to a gas pipe leakage that passed through the same room, which caught fire as a result of a spark created by the air conditioner.

OBITUARY: Religious scholar Maulana Hafiz Abdul Wahid Jalandhari passed away in Toba Tek Singh.

His funeral prayers were attended by scores of religious scholars and people. He was the founder of Toba Jamia Ayesha Siddiqa Tul Binat and had spent several years in the UK working for religious causes.

He got his religious education from Jamia Qasimul Aloom in Multan and remained close to late Syed Attaullah Shah Bukhari and Mufti Mahmood while he also remained district emir of JUI-F.

He was the father of district PTI president advocate Mian Abdul Basit.

SUICIDE: A young man died by suicide after killing a woman in Ahmadpur Sial tehsil’s locality of Bangla Yasmeenwala in Jhang.

The deceased girl was identified as Nasira Bibi, and the alleged killer as Shaban Wasi.

Reports said Nasira had eloped with Wasi and they had been in hiding for the last few days as the family of the deceased girl was in search of them.

First, he shot Nasira to death and then he shot a bullet into his own head with the gun.

DROWNS: Sehar Noor, 7, drowned in the Rakh branch canal on Canal Road, Faisalabad.

Rescue 1122 said Sehar was taking bath with family by tying herself with a rope from a canal side tree but the rope broke and she fell into the canal.

ACCIDENT: Ali Hamza, 15, died, and another, Naveed, 17,

was critically injured when a truck hit their motorcycle on National Highway near Chak 79/10R in Kacha Khu area, Khanewal.
