TOBA TEK SINGH: A youth allegedly killed his mother and three sisters for “honour” in Basti Loharan Wali of Kabirwala tehsil in Kabirwala Saddar police limits on Friday.

Police say Abbas (21) first went to the fields where his three sisters -- Samina (22), Amna (20) and Haleema (15) -- were working, and opened indiscriminate fire on them, leaving them critically injured. All the three women died shortly after.

The suspect then went home and also shot his mother, Haseena (45), dead on the spot and fled away.

The bodies of the deceased women were shifted to Kabirwala THQ hospital for autopsy.

Locals claimed that the suspect had suspicion about the character of his sisters and mother.

However, District Police Officer (DPO) Ismail Kharak told reporters, while visiting the crime scene, that so far the motive behind the killings was not clear.

He said a police team had been formed to trace and arrest the suspect at the earliest and investigate the case.

Zafar Iqbal, father of the suspect, a peasant, expressed his ignorance about the motive of the murders.

A Punjab Forensic Science Agency lab team also visited the crime scene and collected evidence.

GIRLS RECOVERED: Jhang city police claim to have traced and recovered the three sisters who were allegedly abducted from Bhakkar and handed them over to Bhakkar city police.

The police says that the girls -- Ramzana (18), Salma (15) and Asia (13) -- however, claimed they had left their home on their own as a result of torture by their parents and other family members.

Jhang police spokesperson says that DPO Muhammad Rashid Hidayat was contacted by Bhakkar police for recovery of the girls.

He says that in the FIR registered by Bhakkar city police against 17 persons, the girls’ mother Jamila Bibi had claimed that her daughters were kidnapped on June 13.

He says, however, the kidnapping story proved wrong as after their recovery from the house of a woman, who used to be the family’s neighbuor, the girls said no one had kidnapped them and they had run away from their home due to the fear of torture by their family members.
