PESHAWAR, March 20: The NWFP Assembly has kept pending two adjournment motions about non-appointment of teaching staff for a primary school and non-execution of development schemes under various development programmes.

The first motion was moved by Pir Mohammad Khan of the ruling Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal. It is about non-appointment of teaching staff for a school in Shangla district. He said he got constructed the school building last year, but the finance department refused to provide funds for sanctioned posts of teaching staff. He told the House that when he had asked the finance secretary to provide funds the secretary sent the case to the planning and development department. But, Mr Khan, said the P&D had nothing to do with recruitment of teachers.

He said it was a matter of public interests and it should be referred to the concerned standing committee.

Israrullah Gandapur from Dera Ismail Khan tabled the second motion regarding the non-execution of World Bank sponsored development schemes by the tehsil municipal administration in his constituency.

Clarifying the issue, Minister Local Governments Sardar Idrees said the sponsoring agency had reservations on involvement of MPAs in local bodies’ affairs. He, however, said the issue would be resolved soon.

Earlier, the chair kept pending a question by Mr Gandapur about non-execution of some old development schemes in his constituency.—APP
