KARACHI, March 20: The Sindh Education and Literacy Department on Monday notified that all the educational institutions in the government and private sector in the province would remain closed on March 21 on account of Chehlum (Safar 20).

The additional secretary of the department, Qazi Arif Ali, said that the Chehlum holiday was already included in the list of holidays, which was approved by the Steering Committee of the Sindh education department on Jan 4.

Besides summer and winter vacations and the gazetted holidays declared by the government, as per the decision of the steering committee, all the government and private schools are required to observe holidays on account of Chehlum, Shab-i-Meraj, Shab-i-Barat, Youm-i-Ali and Shab-i-Qadr.
