PESHAWAR, March 20: The NWFP Assembly on Monday offered fateha on Monday for people killed in the bomb blasts in DI Khan and Tank districts. Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan was in the chair.

Provincial Minister for Irrigation Hafiz Akhtar Ali led the fateha.

At the outset of the proceedings, Mazhar Jamil Khan Alizai, Israrullah Khan Gandapur and Murid Kaazim from DI Khan and Tank districts drew attention of the house to the tragic incidents in their districts.

They demanded compensation for legal heirs of the dead and injured people.

Raising a point of order, Khalil Abbas of ANP referred to deteriorating condition of a section of the G T Road between Peshawar and Nowshera and urged the government to take up the matter with the NHA.

Sikandar Sherpao drew attention of the house to damage caused to standing crops by a hailstorm in Charsadda and Mardan districts. He said ‘maalia’ and ‘abyana’ of farmers in these districts should be written off.

Abdul Akbar Khan, Alamzeb Umerzai and Bashir Ahmed Bilour supported demand made by Sikandar Sherpao.—APP
