RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has allowed the establishment of summer camps in public and private schools for curricular and co-curricular and sports activities during summer vacations from June 20.

According to the notification, the summer camps will be allowed for all classes. The summer camps can be held from 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

The school administration will ensure that all activities/classes are conducted in classrooms or indoors. Participation in the summer camps will not be mandatory for students. The consent of parents will be required for registration of students for participation in summer camps.

The school administration will ensure the availability of basic essential amenities, for example, cleanliness, clean and cold drinking water, fans, sitting arrangements, electricity backup in case of load shedding and others.

The school administration will ensure that participants of summer camps bring healthy and fresh eatables and will ensure the availability of a first aid box with sufficient necessary supplies.

All participants of summer camps shall be exempted from uniforms. However, the school administration shall ensure students wear light colour, loose-fitting clothing and hats to protect them from sunshine.

The heads of public schools are also encouraged to establish coaching camps for hockey, football, volleyball, or any other sports, as deemed appropriate on the above lines by deploying Physical Education Teachers (PETs) or any other interested teacher on a voluntary basis, or by using staff from the District Sports Office.

The Chief Executive Officers of the District Education Authority and Heads of private institutions were directed to ensure compliance with the above-cited terms and conditions for the establishment of summer camps in true letter and spirit.

All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association President Kashif Adeeb Javadani, North Punjab President Ibrar Ahmad Khan and Member District Registration Authority Rawalpindi Ibrar Ahmad Khan welcomed the decision.
