LAHORE, March 19: Four-year-old bay English colt, Banzine, put up a smashing performance under jockey M. Hanif to win the Eclipse Stakes Of Pakistan run over 2,000 metres during the Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday. Banzine took up the running after the final turn into the straight and from that moment the race was his. He outpaced Brummel by five lengths easily.

This was Sohail Aziz trained colt’s third victory in-a-row. Golden Drift and Ponente completed the frame.

Banzine was confidently backed by connections at 80 to 100 favourite. The winner clocked two minutes 5 1/5 over the distance.

Bay mare, Freedom Dancer, won the Pepsi Cup run over 1,600 metres. She beat Trace Kim, who nosed out Sher-i-Gujrat by a neck while Fidel Castro completed the frame in photo-finish.

Toru Khan, lived upto his star billing when he won the sixth race by a distance from Putra’s Lady. Puma The Great and Red Hot Fire completed the board.

Three-year-old bay filly Ferrari made amends for her defeat last Sunday and won the second race.

Jockey M. Hanif highlighted Sunday’s races by bringing home a brace of winners. He piloted home Ferrari in the second race and Banzine in the seventh. Trainer Haji Ghulam Sarwar sent out two winners, Ferrari and Toru Khan.
