KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan has recently conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award on musician, director, composer and organiser Azhar Hussain in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the world of music and his significant impact on the cultural heritage of Pakistan.
Mr Hussain’s compositions include the timeless classics “Yeh Watan Tumhara Hay”.
In a ceremony, notable personalities including Bushra Ansari, Anu Kapoor who joined the event via remote video link from India, Qasim Azhar, Sajjad Ali, Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan, Humaira Arshad, M Arshad, Tina Sani, paid tributes to Mr Hussain and praised his legendary work.
Speaking on the occasion, Azhar Hussain expressed his heartfelt gratitude and pledged to continue his involvement in mentoring the younger generation.
His son and famous singer, Asim Azhar, shared his pride, saying, “I feel very proud today that my father is being honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.”
Arts Council president Ahmed Shah said, “The Arts Council is honoured to celebrate Azhar Hussain’s lifetime of achievements, which have not only enriched the Pakistani film industry but also left an indelible mark on the global music scene.
