QUETTA: The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) representative in Pakistan, Philippa Candler, arrived in Loralai on Thursday to assess the conditions of Afghan refugees in camps.

Ms Candler was accompanied by UNHCR’s northern Balochistan representative Nasrullah Khan Musakheil and Commissioner at Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees, Balochistan, Arbab Talib Kasi.

She visited the UNHCR’s vocational training centre in Loralai and met Loralai division Commissioner Balach Aziz and Deputy Commissioner Miran Baloch. She thanked them for their support and security arrangements. She also inspected the residences of the commissioner and deputy commissioner built during British rule.

She inaugurated the Government Girls Model High School in Loralai and distributed 40 tablets among top-performing students.

The UNHCR official also visited the Girls Middle School in Pahari area funded by Refugee Affected and Hosting Area (Raha).She also held meetings with DIG Nazar Ahmed Kurd and other police officials and expressed her gratitude for the security arrangements.
