MUZAFFARGARH: The Jamiat Ulma-i-Islam has made arrangements for the rally of its chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the Multan-Jhang Road, the only main road of the city, by placing containers on it and blocking traffic 30 hours before the event.

Fazl is scheduled to address the rally in Muzaffargarh on Saturday night (today).

Dawn has learnt that the district administration has allowed JUI-F to hold a rally on the city road when three venues, namely Faisal Stadium, Fayyaz Park and Sports Ground, were available where the rally could be held. The party had also decided to hold the rally on the main road.

The local chapter of the JUI-F has blocked the road, causing disturbance for the people living on its both sides, filling stations and groceries shops as containers have been placed there and no traffic is allowed.

The business community has also expressed its concerns at loss of business due to the road blockade.

Fazl had announced that he would start the campaign against the ruling parties from Muzaffargarh. His party claimed that thousands of people would gather in the power show against the government.

An official of the district administration told this correspondent that the government had allowed Fazl to hold the rally and party workers and supporters would not face any action.

On the other hand, the PTI supporters are also expected to participate in the rally.

Talking to Dawn, some PTI workers claimed that it was an opportunity for them to vent their anger against the ruling parties.

The JUI-F workers said arrangements had been completed for the event and Maulana Fazl would launch a movement against the government from the city.
