LAHORE, Mar 17: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has suspended national coach Akhtar Mohiuddin for breaching the Code of Conduct.

Akhtar was appointed coach of the Pakistan Under-14 team but he left the camp after developing differences with Pakistan’s Bahraini coach Salman Ahmed Sharida, over the schedule of training.

Sharida was also involved in coaching the team.

“Akhtar is suspended from taking part in National/International football related activities till further orders,” a PFF spokesman said on Friday.

“PFF has taken a serious note of Akhtar’s statement about Bahrain-based Pakistani football trainer Salman Ahmed Sharida in various newspapers, thus he violated the PFF Code of Conduct.

Akhtar has also been directed to explain his position for conduct that brings the game into disrepute,” the spokesman said.

The Under-14 training camp is in progress in Lahore to finalise the team for next month AFC Festival in Islamabad.

Akhtar, who was a part of the coaches panel when Pakistan defeated India in the inaugural Indo-Pak football series last year, had joined the ongoing U-14 training camp as head coach at Lahore.

The Chaman-born Akhtar, 49, also coached Pakistan Under-14 team for the last Festival in Nepal 2004 and AFC U13 Festival in Bangladesh 2005.
