PESHAWAR: The members of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) here on Wednesday held a march against Israeli brutalities in Gaza and staged a protest demonstration near the US consulate.

The protesters condemned the genocide of the Palestinian Muslims in Gaza and stressed the need for immediate end to Israeli’s atrocities.

The march started from the main campus of University of Peshawar turned into a protest gathering when it reached Aman Chowk near the US consulate.

The protest march was led by central chief of the organisation, Hassan Bilal Hashmi, provincial president Wasim Haider and district president of Jamaat-i-Islami Advocate Bahrullah.

The long vehicular procession participated by boy and girl students of various universities and colleges marched through the main University Road. The protesters were holding banners, placards and Palestinian flags to show solidarity with the Palestinian Muslims and express anger against Israel and its supporters.

They were also wearing Palestinian Keffiyeh to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Addressing the protesters, leaders of the march criticised the weak policy of the government regarding the issue of Palestine. They rejected the proposal of a two-state solution by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Later, a delegation of the protesting students, led by Waseem Haider, called on the US officials at the consulate and presented a memorandum to them.
