KARACHI, March 17: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad said on Friday that steps were being taken to overcome the shortage of electricity and the situation would soon improve. “We would be able to overcome the power shortage by the end of current month,” he said and added that K-III project was also near completion that would help meet the water shortage.

The governor was addressing the traders at the annual dinner of Federal B. Area Association of Trade and Industry, Thursday night.

Karachi would start getting additional 400MW power by the end of this month, the governor said adding that the city needs 2,100MW power during peak hours against a total supply of 1700MW, but now there would be no such shortage.

The governor also announced a grant of Rs5 million for the association. He said that three underpasses were being built in the city at a time while the road from SITE to airport would be made signal-free in the next phase.

Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, Labour Minister Adil Siddiqui, and Rehan Zeeshan, chairman of the association, also addressed.—PPI
