THERE was a park until a few years ago in Islamabad’s F-6/4 area opposite a mosque where children used to play and have fun. The place has now been converted into a food outlet, depriving children of a chance to enjoy the peaceful environment. The outlet is frequented by all sorts of people, and there is always heaps of rubbish all around the place.

As such, the location is ideal and can literally present the view of a paradise on Earth if the vast patches of grass are trimmed regularly and proper maintenance is carried out on a regular basis. But, unfortunately, the patches are left abandoned, and grass is left to grow on its own, painting a dismal picture.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) should pay due attention to the area, take measures against all the existing illegal encroachments that are there, and ensure proper maintenance.
