619 bus drivers arrested

LAHORE, March 16: The city traffic police claimed on Thursday to have arrested 619 bus drivers and cancelled licenses of 108 during the last one month.

SP Waseem Khan said the action had been taken on charges of line and lane violations and rash driving. He added traffic police squads with two DSPs in command had been assigned to monitor the franchised bus routes.

Besides, he said a campaign in process against the reckless driving by the franchised buses had resulted in action against 4,523 vehicles, while 413 of the buses had been impounded. —Staff Reporter
