TOBA TEK SINGH: A man allegedly raped the six-year-old girl at Chak 65-GB of tehsil Jaranwala of Faisalabad district.

Complainant Ibrar alleged in his FIR that his daughter went to play with children in the house of the suspect in the neighbourhood who was alone at home. He forcibly took her into a room where he raped her and also tortured her when she resisted.

In a press release, City Police Officer Kamran Adil claimed that the accused had been arrested and the child was shifted to the THQ hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has hinted at increasing the punishment for the convicts in rape cases. She stated this on Tuesday while taking notice of the rape of the minor girl in Jaranwala tehsil.

“The accused who brutalised the innocent girl should be severely punished,” said the chief minister.

Ms Maryam also sought a report from the inspector general of police about the incident.

In response to the notice of the CM, the Punjab Police took quick action and arrested the suspect.

ENCOUNTER: A suspect was killed in an alleged encounter with Saddar police near Chak 148-GB, Chohla, in Toba.

A police official claimed that a police party asked four suspects on motorcycles to stop on a link road but they opened fire on the policemen who also retaliated. When the firing stopped, police found one of the suspects injured while others had managed to flee.

Police shifted him to the district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was later identified as Azhar Sial locality of Kot Dewan, Jhang. Police said he was wanted in more than 50 robbery incidents in Jhang and Toba districts and that he had died after receiving bullets fired by his own accomplices.

SUICIDE: A youth committed suicide in Gojra.

Abdul Rahman of Sardar Colony was jobless and was worried about his financial circumstances. On Tuesday, he consumed poison to end his life. When his parents came to know of it, they shifted him to the tehsil headquarters hospital where doctors referred him to Allied Hospital in Faisalabad.

Rahman expired in the Faisalabad hospital.

INJURED: A passer-by was critically injured when unidentified men opened fire on policemen in Chak 360-JB Bobak of Gojra.

Reports said a police team raided the village and arrested a suspect in a theft case. In the meantime, unidentified persons fired at the police. As a result, a man, identified as Imran, was critically injured.

The doctors at Gojra THQ Hospital referred him to Allied Hospital.
