PESHAWAR: Veteran Pashto stand-up comedian Hayatullah Khan aka Mirawas Ustad has sought a helping hand of well-off and philanthropists for medical treatment as he has been admitted two days ago to Hayatabad Medical Complex.

According to hospital sources, the ailing comedian had multiple health issues but curable. They said that he was under-treatment.

“Mirawas Ustad’s contribution to eradication the menace of drugs among youth remained the crown crux of his comic poetic talent, which he made use of in an effective way to cast lasting positive impact. He must be given due attention to,” said Isamail Shahid, a noted comedian and close friend of Mirawas.

In a video message Mirawas Ustad has asked his fans to pray for his early recovery. He has sought financial assistance from philanthropists to get his ailment treated since he has no source of income and has been bedridden since long.

“Whosoever watches this video, especially my fans, should know that I am in pathetic condition and urge you all to pray for my speedy recovery as I want to rejoin my family members and restart work to earn livelihood for my children,” he appealed in his feeble voice, lying on the bed.

According to sources, no state-run radio, TV or provincial culture department official turned up at the hospital to enquire after his health. However, an attendant of the comedian said that artist’s diehard fans showed up after his video message went viral. “They brought bouquet as mark of respect while a few left handful of money at his bedside,” said his another attendant.

Mirawas Ustad is a household name in the field of Pashto comedy as he has served as stand-up performer on radio, stage and TV and also brought out more than 1,500 audio and video albums. He has represented Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in more than 25 countries including Gulf States and European countries.
