PESHAWAR, March 16: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday stayed the dislodging of post-graduate nursing students from a hostel in Hayatabad township. A writ petition was filed by the president of the provincial Nursing Association, Nazeer Abdur Rehman, requesting the court to declare illegal the provincial government’s order about vacating the nursing hostel.
A bench comprising Justice Ijazul Hassan and Justice Qaim Jan Khan fixed March 22 for the next hearing and directed the provincial government to maintain status quo till that date.
The provincial health department has issued notice to the student nurses asking them to vacate the hostel. The government intends to accommodate students of the Khyber Girls Medical College in the hostel.
Advocate Shehzada Shahpur Jan appeared for the petitioner and contended that the building was constructed by the women division and the provincial government had nothing to do with it.
