BAJAUR: A local jirga resolved an old enmity between two families in Mamund tehsil of Bajaur tribal district on Saturday.

The nine-member jirga of the elders of Mamund tehsil headed by Malik Shaheen Khan after hectic efforts resolved the dispute between the families of Malik Haleem Khan and Malik Juma Khan. They announced the decision at a function in Laghari area of Mamund tehsil.

Besides members of both the families, local elders and religious leaders attended the event. The heads of the rival families announced to forgive each other.

Malik Shaheen Khan and other jirga members said on the occasion that the settlement of the conflict triggered by land dispute was a difficult task for them as it had claimed several lives during the last two decades. They said that several people were injured in the enmity.

However, they said that their commitment and importantly the support of both the families made the difficult task easy for them. The jirga members announced to continue their efforts to resolve all kinds of conflicts in the region in a peaceful manner.

They claimed that they had recently settled a 50-year-old dispute in the region amicably.
